Annual Sports Meet 2022-23
The Annual Sports meet of SPFGC was held on 8-01-2023 in the college ground ,upholding the aspects of sporting events. Dr. Vivek Javagal, Oral &Maxillofacial Pathologist & Dr. Rajika V. Javagal, Pediatric & Preventive dentist were the chief guests of the day. Rev. Sr. Prameela D’souza was the guest of honor. Rev. Dr. Sr. Jasmine- Principal, Mr. Darshan- Physical Director, Miss Sindu Y.Y- President of the Students Union, Miss Vedashree- Sports Secretary, teaching and support staff graced the occasion. Miss Sindu Y.Y- President of the Students Union led the ceremonial march past with the college flag to the rhythmic beats played by the college band. 8 teams marched in harmony signifying the discipline and self control. This splendid march past was judged by the three physical directors invited from different colleges. Chief Guest received the salute of honor from the marching teams. Students invoked the God’s blessings by a beautiful prayer dance. Nadageethe rent the air. Mrs. Amrutha welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Padma introduced the chief guests after which the college flag was hoisted.

Makara Sankranti Celebration
With the state gearing up for the festivities, “Ellu bella thindu olle mathaadi” is the Kannada saying that will make its rounds. This saying means “eat the mixture of sesame seeds and jaggery and speak good words”. This saying follows a very important tradition called ‘Ellu Birodhu’. The rich colourful traditions of the harvest festival – Sankranti – were brought alive at the college as the festival was organised at the respective campus. The celebration began the puja by invoking Lord Ganesha and seeking his blessings. College is beautifully decorated with Rangoli especially at the entrance and a garland of flowers and mango leaves was hung at the doorways. As a part of Makar Sankranti celebrations at SPFGC, students decked up in traditional attires, performed festival dances of the villages, the essence of sankranti is revealed through skit , and sankranti songs were sung by students. Veena from the final BBA shared valuable information about the history and significance of this beautiful celebration. Principal Sr. Jasmine congratulated and wished the students usher in goodness, peace, good health and happiness to their life on this special occasion.

College Excursion to Hyderabad
SPFGC organised an Annual Excursion for Students on 24-11-2022 to Hyderabad . It was a two days tour for 90 with 10 staff. Visited Golconda fort, Lumbini Park, Ramoji Film City, Charminar, Salar Jung Museum.

10th Graduation Day Ceremony
SPFGC Graduation Day held on 22-11-2022 at 10.00 AM in St.Philomena Auditorium, Hassan. Graduands attended the program with proper dress code. The college graduation day was presided by President- : Rev. Sr. Prameela D' Souza, Manager, SPFGC, HASSAN. Chief Guest : Prof. M. Venkateshwarlu, Vice Chancellor, University of Tumkur. Principal : Rev. Dr. Sr. Jasmine Correa. Vice Principal : Dr. Raghav D.H., HOD: K.S.Sadananda Swamy B.Com & BBA degrees were awarded to the graduands. Parents of the participants also witnessed the program. Each Graduand name was read as they crossed the stage and received honour with memento and congratulations from the dignitaries. University Rank Holders 2020-21 and 2021-22 of our college were also honoured in the ceremony. A fellowship lunch was also provided to all on this special occasion.

New Fiesta 2022- Freshers Party
A little lilting music and the chink of ice, new faces, smiles all along, resounding laughter- yes it is party time!”
The Commerce and Management Department has a proud tradition to mingle the senior students with the newcomers through ‘Freshers’ Party’ organized every year by the college. The main objective of this event is that every fresher may feel as an integral part of SPFGC family. Jovial smiles and high spirits mark the welcome party ‘New Fiesta-2022’ for the students. With pulsating ambience, flashing lights and foot tapping music, the party begins with a blast. It is a fun filled event at which the Freshers get an opportunity not only to showcase their talents but to interact with the seniors also. The event is graced with various live performances of singing, dancing and fashion show by the students.

ಕನ್ನಡ ರಾಜ್ಯೋತ್ಸವ
ದಿನಾಂಕ ೧-೧೧-೨೦೨೨ ರಂದು ನಮ್ಮ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ರಾಜ್ಯೋತ್ಸವವನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ನಾಡಗೀತೆಯ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕನ್ನಡದ ಕಂಪನ್ನು ಬೀರುವ ಗೀತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಡುತ್ತ ವಿವಿಧ ನೄತ್ಯಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರಾಗಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ಸಾರಿದೆವು. ಸಿರಿಕನ್ನಡಂ ಗೆಲ್ಗೆ ಸಿರಿಕನ್ನಡಂ ಬಾಳ್ಗೆ’

The Staff picnic
The staff members of St. Philomena went on a picnic to Utsav Rock Garden Resort on October 11, 2022.Its an Indoor and Outdoor Sculpture Museum located at Gotagodi, Shiggaon taluk, Haveri district . Apart from relaxation and enjoyment the picnic also aimed at building up team spirit among the members of the staff. The journey to the resort was an enjoyable one, both due to the exquisite scenery on the way to Haveri and the singing in the bus. After the breakfast, the staff had the option for visiting the resort and walk around the museum. After enjoying the rain dance, most staff members entered the pool and enjoyed a few pool games. The rest of the staff relaxed by the pool spending time in the premises of the resort. Lunch was a welcome diversion. Post-lunch, the entire group met again near the pool side to indulge in tele-games. Though the picnic was done in a day, the memories will linger for a long time.

Annual Canteen Fest "FLAVOURS- 2022"
Annual Canteen Fest "FLAVOURS- 2022" celebrated on July 25,2022. Beautiful ,open air surrounding incredible food, great tunes kept everyone entertained. The blend of traditional tastes and chaats culture of India served. Everyone graced the event in bedazzling Black and White.

Campus Pool Drive
Our College held a 'Job Campus Pool Drive' for the final year students of BBA, B.Com, BCA, MBA and M.Com on 10--08-2022. This Campus Placement activity was initiated by Rank Book Academy, Hassan. Many reputed companies- GRATIFY, HGS, INFOSYS, NCI, NTTF, SKF, ESAF, JOY ALLUKKAS, AKSHAYA BIOTECH, NEXA, ICICI, hired fresh candidates from various streams. Media partner 'Public Star News Hassan' captured this placement drive. Candidates from different colleges participated in this placement activity.

COSMO-FEST
The COSMO-FEST held on 28th December 2021 for PUC students played a predominant role in the student’s life as it managed to etch a significant place for them in the academic calendar. The prime intention was to help students to stage their talent and get recognition on a greater scale. Thus to provide them for a wider exposure into the educational /career opportunities.

Talent Search
Talent Search conducted on 6th and 7th December 2021 was a platform for students to showcase one's unique talents. Apart from the fun and frolic, it offered students an opportunity to exhibit their talents and also to test the student’s managerial skills and increase participation in cultural activities.

Graduation Ceremony
Graduation Ceremony held on 27th November 2021in the auditorium was a red letter day for the students as it marked the culmination of many years of hard work in the relentless pursuit of knowledge and an acknowledgement of their academic achievements.

Investiture Ceremony
Investiture Ceremony held on 23rd November 2021 was a solemn occasion where the elected students were prepared to don the mantle of leadership and discharge the responsibilities entrusted upon them by the college.

Fresher’s Day Celebration
Fresher’s Day held on 23rd November 2021 was a day to welcome new students in a friendly atmosphere and to encourage their creative impulses to boost their confidence. It was a day where seniors and juniors finally bond and unite to celebrate being part of the college.

International Multidisciplinary Conference on 'Educational Development and Welfare'
6th International Multidisciplinary Conference on 'Educational Development and Welfare' was held on 27th January 2018. Around 600 national and international participants presented their papers at the conference. It was jointly organised in collaboration with the University of Mysore, State Planning Board, NARESUAN university, Development research Foundation and St. Philomena FGC Hassan.

Personality Development Programs
The personality development programs are conducted to cover the various dimensions and importance of effective personality. This aims to cause significance of soft skills comprising traits such as self confidence , positive attitude, emotional intelligence, social grace, flexibility, and effective communication skills. Every academic year begins with an intensive thought provoking session for the staff by inviting inspirational speakers and professionals to understand and teach our students to understand the value of character more than position or rank.

Industrial Visits
Industrial visits are arranged by the college to students with an objective of providing students functional opportunities in different sectors like IT, manufacturing and services, finance and marketing. Industrial visit helps to combine theoretical knowledge. Industrial realities are opened to the students through industrial visits.

University Ranks and Gold Medals
We are proud of our students continuously bagging ranks at the University level since 2012 thus proving the zenith of academic excellence we impart to them. This has been possible due to a combination of the Institution’s efforts and the students' hard work. Graduation Ceremony is held every year as a transition moment that marks the culmination of the academic progress that includes the presentation of awards and recognition of student accomplishments.

St. Philomena First Grade College for Women, founded in 2010, is affiliated to the University of Mysore located at H.N.Pura Road, Hassan, Karnataka. OUR PATRONESS : ST. PHILOMENA
Philomena – which means “daughter of light” – was a Greek princess who lived on the Island of Corfu during the fourth century. Philomena is the patron saint of the youth. She is often depicted in her youth with two anchors; three arrows, a palm symbol of martyrdom, and a flower.
Through her intercession we pray that the young women entrusted to our care will take St. Philomena as a role model and exemplar in living.

Make good use of the library and get involved in all the co-curricular activities, where you can develop your God-given talents. " A person who is young years may be old in hours if has lost no time," says Francis Bacon.

An aimless person is like a boat without a rudder. Your education must prepare you to face life boldly and with self confidence and to play your feminine role in family and society. it should build up your character based on values of honesty, justice, love and concern for others.

Accepting God as the source of all good, you will foster a filial relationship with your heavenly father and develop universal love towards all his children. Self discipline and hard work is necessary as study and work. Remember that "A wasted youth is a wasted life". your life is before you- to make it or mar it.
